Job Summary:

The Agile Manager, Unified Communication and Collaboration has accountability to successfully deliver features and capabilities of the Product over time, as defined by the UC&C Product Scope Definition. S/he is a servant leader and enabler who can champion the design/development/delivery team and lead them through their challenges. He/she is responsible for building and managing the agile delivery team, guiding technical solution development and implementation, setting the team up for success and then supporting them from the outside. As the role is evolving, there are additional project management activities that fall under the Agile Manager.

Essential Functions :

  • Ultimate responsibility for successful delivery of the UC&C Product.

  • Support the team in resolving organizational impediments that they cannot resolve themselves

  • Support the team in identifying areas for improvement

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in all areas of the UCC stack

  • Support the team in developing a lean perspective that focuses on flow and the elimination of waste

  • Support the team in leveraging existing & identifying new metrics to provide insight into team health and performance

  • Support the team in advocating for investments into activities that would improve the quality, cost, or required effort of future products (automation, templating, standards)

Supervisory or Management Responsibility :

  • Building and optimizing the team and skill-sets required to support the Product Owner (PO)'s vision

  • Developing and nurturing the team (hiring, training, growth plans, evaluate performance)

  • Providing working environment, resources needed by the team (physical space, software, hardware)

  • Providing a safe environment for teams to fail fast and solve their own problems

  • Effectively distribute resources across teams to maximize team value delivery, rather than striving for resource utilization

  • Understanding the downsides of task switching between projects; the agile manager is in a position to formulate a new resource management model that helps strong teams form and stay together for continued value delivery

  • Building and maintaining staffing and/or technology vendor relationships

Budget Responsibility:

  • Execute all tasks as committed, including but not limited to:

o Financial Tracking & Reporting

o Resource Management

o Milestone checkpoints

o Steering Committees

o Red Zone

  • Assumes fiscal responsibility for budget and forecast alignment within their teams.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus

  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience using appropriate Agile tools such as Jira, Version One, Planview, FieldGlass or others

  • Experience managing teams on large-scale projects with multiple work streams

  • Experience working in an offshore/onshore collaborative environment

  • A proven track record of successfully implementing enterprise-level UC&C applications and technology using SCRUM/Agile methodologies including

o 5+ years of experience managing teams in a high-tech development environment.

o PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred

  • Technical Expertise in UC/C and related technologies:

o Core IPT / VOIP / SIP telecommunications technologies

o Video / web conferencing

o Contact center

o Working knowledge of identity services and messaging

o Microsoft collaboration technologies and tools

o Cisco collaboration technologies and tools

o Cloud-based platforms

o Working knowledge of Computer Telephony Integration

  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 10 team members including Project Managers, UC&C Technology stack, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel

  • High level of technical skills/background to provide highly-credible leadership and technical expertise to teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues

  • Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value

  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with highly technical knowledge workers with proven ability to challenge analysts, designers/developers, testers and architects thought processes to drive great solutions


  • Proven ability to lead UC&C technology development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met

  • Solid understanding of design/delivery life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices

  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands

  • Pervasive commitment to quality UC&C design and delivery to ensure the Product exceeds customer expectations

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels

  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view

  • Able to identify and understand complex problems/issues and develop solutions

  • Ability to build relationships, influence key decision-makers, and collaborate on a cross-functional team comprised of diverse personalities, skill sets, and levels of experience is required

  • Strong leadership, group facilitation, organizational, analytical, and communication skills

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and all Office Tools

Special Requirements of the Position:

  • Working technical knowledge of related technologies and products: Global Network; Identity; End User Computing; Enterprise document collaboration solutions.

  • Collaboration and negotiation skills to ensure UC&C Product requirements from other domains are understood and appropriately positioned in those Product Backlogs.
