Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator/Engineer to support the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) program. The NIAID is focused on scientific research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases.

Job Description:

The Sr. Systems Administrator/Engineer will be responsible for sculpting the future of the organization’s Windows environment. Areas overseen include Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services (PKI), and System Center.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize strong knowledge of and ability to administrate Windows OS-based desktop, laptop and mobile endpoints in an enterprise environment – both local and remote.

  • Ensure effective security, configuration and change management of Windows OS-based devices and compliance with established standards including but not limited to U.S. Government Policies and Standards.

  • Perform routine Windows OS, application and other software security updates via SCCM.

  • Perform full disk encryption management (BitLocker) via SCCM and MBAM.

  • Management of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, registry and file system security as required.

  • Participate and collaborate with other departments to ensure endpoint security and remediate vulnerabilities.

  • Perform routine analysis and reporting of endpoint security posture and activities.

  • Use a solid knowledge of SQL query and reporting skills.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS in a related field and five years related experience or a MS and three years or the equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Experience with Windows Server 20012 R2 and Windows Server 2016 operating systems

  • Experience with Microsoft System Center, including Operations Manager, Configuration Manager, Orchestrator, and Service Manager

  • Knowledge of Active Directory

  • Experience with Certificate Services (PKI)

  • Experience in DNS

  • Experience with PowerShell

  • Experience with securing Windows Operating Systems

  • Enterprise server management experience

  • Experience with file, print, application, database servers, and DFS

  • Experience with enterprise server hardware

  • Experience withTCP/IP

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, including Azure and AWS

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with enterprise server hardware, including HP and Cisco servers

  • Experience with VMware and other virtualization platforms

  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies and concepts

  • Windows imaging technologies

  • Knowledge of Citrix and other application virtualization products

  • Experience with hardware and software monitoring systems

  • Experience with Hardware Load balancers
