Spear, Inc. currently seeks a Software Developer to join our team in Silver Spring, MD who will be part of the operations, maintenance, 24/7 technical support team

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead solutions and activities in continuous integration and build.

  • Chair the Change Control Board and track actions based on establishedprocedures.

  • Manage Release branches

  • Build release rpms and binaries.

  • Backup of release related assets.

  • Responsible for making minor to moderate improvements of processes, systemsor products to enhance performance

  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, includingbut not limited to other areas of SDLC as well as the customer

Required Education:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM); Directrelated experience in lieu of education

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in Java Development

  • Programming skills Java/J2EE

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (7 preferred)

  • Aptitude to learn new technologies, helping to support and evolve anadvanced, FOSS based, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) / Enterprise Bus(ESB)

Desired Skillset:

  • Experience with Object Oriented methodologies, Object Oriented Analysis (OOA)and Object Oriented Design (OOD)

  • Experience working within an Eclipse Development Environment

  • Experience with service bus technologies, spring application framework, JavaMessaging Protocol especially using QPID daemon, Hibernate with a PostgreSQLbackend, Relational Database administration, OpenGL calls and UI design usingEclipse.

  • Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Unified ModelingLanguage (UML),

  • Experience porting older code into more modern framework

  • Experience working within a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment

  • Experience with network stack protocol.

  • Experience writing and maintaining code to security standards of a FISMA Highrated system.

  • Exemplary critical thinking, problem resolution and both oral and writtencommunication skills.

  • Experience in system level scripting, especially python, bash and c-shell.
