The IHL Program Officer will work as a member of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) team to implement IHL Education programs, aimed at educating the American public about IHL. Knowledge of international humanitarian law required and a strong interest in program management, international issues, public international law, human rights and international relations or related fields is essential. This position will report to the Director, International Humanitarian Law.
Work with the ARC Marketing department to create and promote professional-quality tool kits and other promotional materials for use by ARC chapters, partner agencies, and community groups as well as promoting IHL awareness internally.
Coordinate messaging with Marketing and Communications departments to ensure consistent branding.
Represent IHL team with internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to the organization of IHL educational outreach events with internal and external partners.
Implement and refine strategies to raise awareness of IHL programs in the United States.
Manage IHL webpage and social media outlets (blog, Twitter, etc.).
Communicate with internal and external audiences via Constant Contact.
Research and draft grant opportunities for IHL program support.
Assist Youth Education staff with trainings, marketing, and communications as needed.
Perform other administrative duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in human rights, international affairs, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 3 years of related work experience with progressively increased responsibilities in a related education field, preferably with diverse audiences. Knowledge of international humanitarian law. Experience working in IHL-related field is highly desired.
Familiarity with social media tools in order to communicate developments on IHL to students, professional audiences, and members of the public.
Must have strong training and facilitation skills.
Demonstrable experience in project management.
Demonstrable experience in developing education material for external partners.
Must display flexibility, adaptability, initiative and be team oriented.
Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish, are highly desired.
Selected candidate must already be legally allowed to work in the US without any need for Visa Sponsorship now or in the future.
